There were several Adelaide fashion folk in Sydney for Rosemount Australian Fashion Week. We caught up with them to ask 1. What brought you to Sydney for Fashion Week? and 2. What was the highlight of your week?

1. Creating 4 characters for the ‘Romance was Born’ parade. I was hooked up by Lores Giglio, ex Adelaide Hair artist. She did such an amazing job designing and overseeing the hair for this parade for Fudge!
2. I only flew in for this show so unfortunately I can’t compare it to others but it was amazing, the set, the spectacle and aside from that, some incredibly wearable and stunning works, the digital prints were exceptional!

1. My experience at last year’s fashion week brought me back this year, it’s just an amazing opportunity to be involved in and to gain as much exposure to the fashion industry as possible. I don’t have a clear vision to what I want to do yet but having the chance to work in this kind of inspiring atmosphere throughout RAFW, I know that the fashion industry is the only career path for me
2. Not only working backstage and seeing everything you don’t see as a guest and meeting top models I often blog about, I also got to watch several shows; dressing up, style snapped, goodie bags and meeting some of the most influential people in the industry. I got the best of both worlds. My favourite show I worked was without a doubt Stolen Girlfriends Club (pictured below), loved the rocking vibe and incredible collection, everyone was in high spirits and I was even introduced to Mark Hunter, the man behind The Cobra Snake. Overall a surreal experience for me that I’ll always remember.

1. Working in the fashion industry, it doesn’t matter if you’re a stylist, PR, buyer or blogger; I think it’s important to be involved in the bigger picture that is RAFW. For me it’s is a chance to better understand the business of promoting and communicating fashion, from the runway to seeing how IMG and Miro House work.
2. Sitting front row for several collections including Michael Lo Sordo show and then previewing his collection first-hand backstage afterwards was a privileged opportunity.

1. I attended Rosemount Australian Fashion Week for the first time last year as a freelance photographer and absolutely loved it. This year I was asked by one of the event organisers (Miro House) to photograph the whole week as their official photographer.
2. ‘Romance Was Born‘ (pictured below) was definitely, without a doubt, the highlight of my week. It was the best fashion show I have ever seen at RAFW. As an official photographer I had access to areas that other people wouldn’t normally see, including backstage, hair & make-up and all the offsite shows. I have travelled to many cities all over the world, but there’s something special about Sydney and RAFW.

1. Each year I travel up to either work with SA labels that are showing, and/or to meet with fashion PR houses with the ambition of getting them to showcase in SA. This year was a lot about maintaining relationships, as it’s also the only time and place where I can meet people exactly like me. I have returned home with the hopes of a lot of exciting Spring/Summer events on the horizon!
2. To be honest, this was the weakest RAFW I have ever been to, hence my nickname ‘Fashion Weak’. I could be biased and say the Nana Judy after party, but that’d be transparent, as much as it WAS one of the best – if not best – after parties of the week. As far as collection shows go, I was happy to see anyone who wasn’t re-hashing their previous SS collections. The newbies are always exciting to see. ‘a.concept’ I just adored, so fashion forward yet wearable (well I would anyways!) and I have to say, Miss Unkon put on a whimsical show that I very much enjoyed, I left feeling so happy. I’m happiest when I see a real representation of menswear, and I was happy to see Saint Augustine Academy do this and not sacrifice it for the womenswear in the collection. Albeit Lisa Ho, Alex Perry etc had amazing shows and collections, I felt that it took away from the hub and vibe of RAFW headquarters for them to hold the shows off-site… obviously cheaper for the labels. And let’s be honest, I didn’t want to be too far away from the Diamond Bar!

1. I was lucky to receive media accreditation for RAFW through my website www.dearselena.com. I also was approached by Australian INfront to help with coverage for their special RAFW section.
2. I think it’s pretty obvious how much I love fashion, and the week had so many highlights. Apart from getting to sit front row at a few shows, it was about seeing new designers and established designers shine. Favourites included Lui Hon, Gail Sorronda, Sara Phillips and Gary Bigeni. I also loved the media room, where bloggers, journos and photographers would go to report on the collections. It was so nice to meet wonderful people behind blogs such as Sassybella, Style Bubble, An Australian Wintour, Stylelines, Animal Orchestra and of course my roommate for the week, Sea of Ghosts!

1. I was at RAFW this year as a press photographer – covering some of the shows for London-based blog ‘We Scream Style‘.
2. Where do I begin?! I loved spending my time in-between shows watching people around circular quay – the place was crawling with style! My favourite shows were by designers Zambesi and Saint Augustine Academy – they were definitely a positive during the week. However, sitting in front row besides the Project Runway contestants and being interviewed by Tim Blanks for Style.com for the Men’s and Women’s Ready to Wear show was by far one of the greatest highlights of RAFW for me.
